Little Red School House - The Little Red School House Award is presented to a school district that has inaugurated a significant innovative program or project that is "non-instructional" (not a teaching program used by a teacher in a classroom) and deserving of statewide recognition. The major purpose of the award is to promote effective innovations that may be adopted by other districts in the state of South Dakota.

The education program or project nominated should: * demonstrate a positive impact/effect on the school district. * be based upon a creative and practical new idea. * have potential for implementation by other school districts.
